Begin by logging into the “administration area” or the back end of your website. Visit your site’s login page by placing “wp-admin” after your domain name (e.g. http://caninehosting.net/wp-admin). Some sites provide a “log in” link on the front end as well. Now log into WordPress using your username and password.
If you don’t know or have forgotten your password, click on the “Lost your password?” link. An e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address on file with a link to reset your password.
After logging in you are on the main Administration Screen called the Dashboard. The dashboard allows access to all of your posts and pages. If you have administrator-level access you may also access the the theme, plugins, and widgets which are installed.
The labels on the left show how they appear in administrative mode. If you have editor privileges you will have access to: Posts, Media, Links, Pages, Comments, Profile, and Tools. As an “author” you would have access only to your own Posts, Media, Comments, and Profile.
View Your Site
To visit your site now that you are logged in, hover over your site name in the upper left corner, then click on “View Site” in the pull down.
You can add and edit posts and pages either from the dashboard or directly from the site.
Click on “Edit Page” to edit the page you are currently on (it will show “Edit Post” if you have a post selected) or use the pull-down menu under “+New” to add a new post or page.
